Beyonce!!: YAAAAAAAASSSSSSS!!!!

One word...no explanation needed.

12 am, December 13th, the world stopped gathered around together and let out a unified YAAAAAAAASSSSS! With no leaks, and using nothing but speculation and anticipation as promo, Beyonce released her 5th studio album. The massive self-titled juggarnaut debuted No.1 in 72 countries within the first 3 hours of release, and No.1 in 100 countries in the first 24 hours! Queen Bey made sure she rewarded her loyal Bey Hive with as much Mrs. Carter as we could stand. The iTunes exclusive project included 14 tracks to dance in your room to, and 17 visuals to marvel at.

Heeeeeeyyyyy Miss Carter
The album in its entirety is something to appreciate after you get over the initial shock.  Beyonce breathed life into her sexy persona Mrs. Carter. And compared to Sasha Fierce, Mrs. Carter is more grown and raunchier. But of course leave it to bored, sex deprived, pearl wearing housewives to have a problem with Yonce’s new image. Liberal Christian women mourned the loss of their daughter’s perfect role model, while their husbands grabbed their crotches watching her post-baby body gyrate in Parisian lingerie. While it’s entertaining to watch the critics clutch their pearls, the raunchiness of the album is a hit or miss throughout the album. The vocal excellence of Rocket needs to be the sound score for a sex scene in a movie while Partition, although a banger, sounds a church girl trying too hard to impress her gangster boyfriend.
"Sneezed on the beat and the beat got sicker, Yonce’ all on his mouth like liquor"
Each song does a good job of taking on its own personality, even without the visuals. Bey provides everything that we expect from her and then some. The hip-hop heiress, Blue Ivy made her debut on her mother’s heartfelt dedication. Both the turnt up love ballad, Drunk in Love with her hubby Jay Z and the revamp of producer HitBoy’s Bow Down (2013), renamed Flawless will be played in the clubs for a while, although club anthems are uncharacteristic of the R&B, pop Queen. Ignoring Drake living out his lifelong, light skinned fantasy of harmonizing with Beyonce, Mine, and No Angel are made with Drake’s smooth, easy listening style. Tracks like Haunted, have a sexy, eerie, sound that appeases the pop music genre. Bey still gives us the typical feel good, feminist friendly, dance hits and dramatic vocal performances, but the whole album sounds like something Bey has been trying to get out for a while.  It’s going to be interesting to see how she incorporates this new, cocky, rebellious style into her legendary performances that she’s known for. While some of the songs can be easily over looked, as a dedicated bee of the Bey Hive, I must rule that Beyonce is definitely Tay Approved.

Thank you Ms. Pope. I was wondering what I was going to do until Scandal came back on.

Woman (Women) Crush Wenesday!!!! : The Black Women of the 2013 Victoria Secret Fashion Show

Horny men and lovers of the 5 for 26$ panty sale all gathered around to watch the Victoria Secret Fashion Show last night. While Miss Secret’s show didn’t disappoint in displaying huge wings and sparkly underwear sets that one will never see in the store at the mall, the show did manage to shock critics by adding a little more color to the show than in previous years. And by color, I don’t mean the seizure inducing light displays. Young girls were disappointed and surprised to see that the fashion industry's current token black girl, Chanel Iman was replaced by not one but by 5 other 6ft tall, size 2 , ethnic beauties. Yes 5 of em yall! We got a black man in the white house and now we got 5 non-white girls on the Victoria Secret Runway. I tell ya da times sholl’ is a changin! Scroll down and see 3 of the of this week’s Woman Crushes and get jumpstart motivation for that 20lbs weight loss New Year’s Resolution.

2014 Grammy Nomination Snubs

Every music lovers holiday is upon us and Saturday night was the preparation for it. Saturday night 2014’s Grammy nominees were released. And it wouldn’t be a decent year in music, if it weren’t any disappointments. Considering the amazing music  we got this year, it was exciting to see which artist the academy were forced to acknowledge. While we sit back  on January 26,and watch everyone collect the music industries biggest honor, here are some of our favorite artist that will not be honored.  While everybody’s favorite musician in the world can’t win, here are some that Tay felt were snubbed.

1) K Michelle
All ratchetness aside, K Michelle was one of the lone singers that put the R&B genre on her back this year. While V.S.O.P wasn’t my favorite song, her album was pretty solid. You say what you want about K.Michelle but on the basis of a true R&B artist and album, her album Rebellious Soul meets the criteria and would’ve carried its weight next to Tamar Braxton and John Legend. (Sorry Ciara)While the academy was scraping up nominees out of the “urban sector” for the R&B category, they could’ve given K a nomination. Hell Alicia Keys Girl on Fire got one, and the human ear can only physically tolerate that song for 20 seconds.

2) J Cole
Born Sinner was one of the albums that made summer 2013 one of the greatest for hip hop in a while. Cole showed his massive sized kahunas to the rap world when he purposefully dropped his album on the same day as his label mate Kanye West. Now I’m willing to fight to the death with someone about which one was better (cough, cough Born Sinner) but the quality of Born Sinner can’t be denied. The album has lost a little bit of its hype since the summer, but since Kanye has been force feeding Yeezus down our throat, Born Sinner took a back seat. Cole isn’t at his peak where he could have won against Magna Carta/Holy Grail or Nothing was the Same but it would’ve been nice to see it on the list.

3) Miley Cyrus
If only they gave out Grammy’s out for twerking…..she still wouldn’t win, but music wise Miley was definitely snubbed this year. Although her album dropped too late for a nomination, Wrecking Ball was definitely a decent song with notoriety this year. If Miley knew she wasn’t even going to be recognized for her music video, she probably wouldn’t have put her bare crotch on that cold wrecking ball in the video.

bow down bitches
4) Rihanna
Rihanna haters please keep your hate to yourself.

Will Rih go down for best singer or performer when her Rihanna reign is over? No, probably not. But the fact that she recently just broke the record  for having the most No.1 pop songs of ALL TIME, should count for something. (Kanye voice) Putting my Rihanna love aside: Only 2 nominations for a platinum album is borderline disrespectful. I mean c’mon, the woman is an ICON! (American Music Award’s words, not mine)

5) Kanye West- Oooo Kanye gonna be mad…..

While I’m not all the way against this one, Mr.West may think of his mere 2 nominations as “an attempt by white corporate America to marginalize the urban community from public success!”  (Kanye rant voice), but this just proved that Yeezus went way above everybody’s head. One can only think that the poor academy gave West the 2 nominations out of pure fear of public scrutiny. My only objection is to the Best Rap Performance category. Any YouTube video will show that, Kanye’s creative, fearless creativity and empire sized ego makes a great performance. But hey, at the relief of whatever security that is working the show that night, maybe Ye will be so offended at a mere 2 nominations that he won’t even show up.

Check here for the official list of the nominees:

2013 American Music Awards RECAP!!!!

Last night pop culture junkies gathered around their televisions, twitter apps in tow , to watch the annual 2013 American Music Awards. And after everybody found out the AMA's were NOT the same as the Billboard Awards that we watched 4 months earlier,  people actually got into it.

The live broadcast opened up with a weird but visually beautiful performance by Katy Perry, and gathered music lovers of all genres together, until we all get together again for the Grammy Awards in January.  Aside from Pitbull being a better host than she is a music artist, here are 5 things worth mentioning.

1)      Damn That Girl Can Sang!!

Everybody’s closet obsession Arianna Grande, made everybody say sigh and go, “Awwww!” when they looked at her and say, “Damn!! “when they heard her. The Nickelodeon star has been hiding in our IPod shuffles for about a year now, and cemented her name in R&B with her performance last night. Armed with nothing but a microphone, a red sequin dress and suited background singers, Grande went complete old school with her vocals and dropped everyone’s jaw. After winning the best new artist award and the success of her breakthrough album, Arianna Grande is definitely one to watch.

Her voice is bigger than she is

Take notes Disney, you makes stars out of people who ACUALLY CAN SING, not just because they are cute on TV

2)       The Experience Takes the Stage

One of many great performances that night, Justin Timeberlake and his Tennessee Kids brought the 20/20 Experience to the AMA stage.  Messing up everybody expectations for a JT performance armed with a pop hit and a dance montage, JT grabbed his guitar and performed one of his slept on ,country inspired hits Drink You Away.  Right before being robbed of the Best Pop/Rock Album Award, JT and his band took the crowd to church , armed with nothing but guitars and  bomb ass background singers.

" I'm Justin ,these are the Tennessee Kids and this is a song about alcohol"

Will twerk for tickets to this concert.

3)      Yes J-Lo is 44

Out of no where 44 year old Jennifer Lopez came out and made your mother look old. J-Lo did a magical tribute performance to Cuban pop legend Ceila Cruz , with 3 costume changes and an amazing dance number, J-Lo had one of the best performances of the night, and it wasn’t even in English. J-Lo picked up right where her 2005 ,performances left off and showed off her post-twins body. If you didn’t enjoy the vocals, J-Lo gave you enough to look at, in that sexy silver number, and didn’t miss a step or stumble over a note during her kick ass salsa number. Black don’t crack, and apparently neither does bodiqua.

Any performance that requires three outfit changes, needs recognition

At 44 years old, and a set of twins, say what you want about J Lo but she still puts in work on the stage.

4)      R Kelly + Lady Gaga= awkward

In a random twist of events, Lady Gaga and R Kelly collaborated on a song , Do What You Want, for a weird, sexual, awkward, vocally amazing performance.  We know that Lady Gaga is a genius. We know R Kelly is a genius. But when two stars collide weird shit happens and this performance showed that. While the whole Marilyn Monroe, JFK skit caught everybody’s attention, what was lasting about the performance was Lady Gaga’s killer vocals concluding the performance. The whole thing seemed kinda random, but Gaga jumped back on the radar with the performance. Oh and if you are ovulating soon, R Kelly has a new album coming out. Black Panties is due December 10th.

Ummmm.....

Despite the  weirdness of this performance, Lady Gaga did serve us some kick ass vocals at the end.

5)      Rihanna the Icon
            Rihanna-Sexuals UNITE!

While most black girls wouldn’t dare step more than 4 feet from their house with their hair wrapped. Rihanna came to an awards show, in front of millions with her hair wrapped, with bobby pins and all and STILL managed to take a number two on every girl here who probably sat in hair and make up for 2 hours.  Rihanna took home 2 awards last night including the most notorious, the first ever AMA Icon Award.  To the disapproval of critics, this decades Marilyn Monroe, was presented the award after a heart felt speech by her mother and video presentation by King Hov. (The AMA’s is not quite big enough for the Carter’s to show their face). Rih Rih gave a  passionate, but  a tad bit over dramatic performance of one of her biggest hits Diamonds (still with a wrap), and then proceeded to very dryly accept one of the most notorious awards of the night. Hate it or love is Rihanna is an icon  even if she was too cool to be  excited about it.

Momma Fenty (Rihanna's mommy) present4ed her with the award after a tear jerking, speech.

First normal chick I see going to the Walmart with bejeweled bobby pins and a wrap, I'm going to push you off a bridge
Really though, what factory was she made in? Swag like this don't come naturally

The piece is Jean Paul Gaultier Couture 2013, aka a dress that nobody can pull off but Rih,Rih

Tay's Best Dressed: Naya Rivera
                             Micheal Kors  Spring 2013

Classy, Sexy, Sophisticated... So Tay

Sllllaaaaayyyy!!!

Tay's Worst Dressed: R Kelly
                                Leather Man-Skirt

2 words "Leather".. "Man-Skirt"...enough said

You can't sing Wrecking Ball and not be swinging from one naked #newrule

Aside from the random singing cat in the background, and lack of flatback twerking, Miley Cyrus gave a pretty good performance.
God forbid, Lady Gaga arrives to a show in a limo like everybody else.

Man Crush Monday : Columbus Short

Since Harrison is finally getting some action on my TV addiction Scandal, and they finally are giving him more than 2 lines per episode this season, this week’s Man Crush Monday goes to Columbus Short.

What is it about a man in a suit?

I don’t know if it’s the suit, or the smooth voice, but Mr. Short commands attention of the screen whenever he’s on, even if it is for a few moments.  This former choreographer slid his way from the background of Britney Spears and first caught female’s attention in Stomp the Yard in 2007.  He attempted to get people to ignore genetics again by playing Chris Brown’s brother for the second time in This Christmas (2007) And if you watch the black teen movie of the century You Got Served (2004)for the 1 millionth time you can see Mr. Short flexing his chest behind Omarion and his hardcore gangsta dance crew (if you were too busy screaming for B2K, its ok if you missed him). And if you really want to feel old, go back to your That’s So Raven (2005) days, remember Trey from Boyz N Motion?.. yea that was him too.(Feel old yet?)
Short decided to make people take his acting skills seriously when he took the role of Little Walter in Cadillac Records (2008). And he hit the jack pot when he caught the attention of Shonda Wright and was casted as the intelligent, smooth talking, Gladiator, Harrison Wright in everybody’s prime time addiction Scandal, alongside Kerry Washington. Columbus Short is definitely a diamond in the rough in Hollywood and it’s only a matter of time before he lands a role that gets him the true recognition he deserves but until then let’s just enjoy letting him talk our panties off every Thursday night.

C Short used to be a choreographer for Britney Spears, not like K.Fed was a dancer but yea..

Ooo that smile.. *melts*

C.Short talks, Olivia Pope out of bad situations as his role as Harrison on Scandal. His loyalty to Olivia Pope every episode makes him even more sexy. Glad he's finally gonna get some action this season.

BOYS! WE ARE THE BOYS IN MOTION! WE GIVE YOUR OUR DEVOTION!..damn I'm old :-P

C.Short 's acting skills are really slept on, his best role was in Cadillac Records as Little Walter.

Hands off this one ladies.. he's married... and she's cute -_- *crowd goes awww*

We can still look though.. right? :-P
